Gambling History

Although gambling is considered by many people only as a play or a way to earn money, it also played an important role in a history. Back in time if was often used to settle affairs regarding territories if they couldn’t be solved in a diplomatic way. Around the year 1,000 A.D. two kings of the Scandinavian countries (Norway and Sweden) agreed to roll a pair of dice to decide on the ownership of the district of Hising. King Olaf of Norway won the territory.

The oldest gaming implements are dice. They took an important role in a global history and it is impossible to decide who invented them although many nations claim that they have origin in their countries. It seems that dice were developed independently by many ancient cultures. For Ancient Romans and Greek gambling was an integral part of the society.
